Magnetic Resonance Imaging of SABRE Hyperpolarization Dynamics in a Membrane Reactor

Utilization of new modalities of a flow reactor are demonstrated here to enhance the scope of Signal Amplification By Reversible Exchange (SABRE), a hyperpolarization technique. The flow reactor provides constant unperturbed hyperpolarization of a solution, enabling the acquisition of 2D and 3D images at ultra-low magnetic fields via MRI. Here a magnetic field of 6.5 mT is used with a Balanced Steady State Free Precession (bSSFP) pulse to acquire steady-state visualization of the dynamics of parahydrogen hyperpolarization in a membrane reactor. The capabilities demonstrated in this work can characterize the hyperpolarization process within a sample at low magnetic fields by studying the flow rate dynamics.
